As Head of Department, I oversee the implementation of the British music curriculum by our teaching staff in the Primary Department. I also direct choirs from Year 2 – 6, conduct the KES Senior String Orchestra, and direct the soloists and ensembles in the Primary Department annual musical production. As part of my contribution to the school, I have rewritten the KS2 curriculum to align with current educational practices and have participated in creating a Year 1 – 13 standardized system of marking and assessment for the Music Department.

My conducting students have achieved significant conducting positions with the Tekfen Philharmonic Orchestra, Mugla Municipal Orchestra, Istanbul Film Music Orchestra, Sistema Istanbul Youth Orchestra, Magma Philharmonic Choir, and AG34 Choral Ensemble.

ISTANBUL EUROPEAN CHOIR AND CHAMBER ORCHESTRA 2016-2017
Music Director
As Music Director of the Istanbul European Choir and Chamber Orchestra, I conducted all rehearsals and concerts with the IEC, worked with the Board and Music Selection Committee, auditioned new members, and developed concert programs. During my tenure our repertoire included: Dvorak Stabat Mater, Vivaldi Magnificat, Faure Requiem, Jenkins Stabat Mater, Zelenka Missa dei Filii, as well as performing Mahler Symphony no. 2 with the Thessaloniki State Symphony Orchestra (Greece).

HEZARFEN ENSEMBLE (ISTANBUL) 2012-2017
CONTEMPORARY MUSIC ENSEMBLE
Guest Conductor
As Guest Conductor, I led Hezarfen in concerts and recordings in Istanbul and Ankara from 2012 to 2017. Hezarfen is Turley’s leading Contemporary music ensemble, and often collaborates with Klangforum Wein and the Icarus Ensemble. Most notably, concerts included participation in the AK Bank Jazz Festival (Hezarfen and Urodny), Goethe Institute “Marc Andre Portrait Concert”, Borusan Sanat American Music Festival, Academic Conference “Beyond East and West” (2016–2017), and the Bilkent Composition Academy as well as numerous student composition workshops and recordings.

ARS NOVA CHAMBER ORCHESTRA (String Orchestra)

Principal Guest Conductor
This position included conducting all Masterworks and Light Symphonic concerts with the Ars Nova Chamber Orchestra in Nikolaev, Ukraine. Duties include season programming, guest artist selection, as well as conducting all sectionals, rehearsals, and concerts for programs in various different venues across Nikolaev. Repertoire included music from the Baroque period to late Romantic period, with composers such as Vivaldi, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Verdi, Tchaikovsky, Dvorak, Puccini, and Vaughan Williams. Selected programs have been recorded live and were frequently aired on local television stations.
BILKENT LABORATORY INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL 2009-2011

This full-time position in the BLIS International Baccalaureate program and IGCSE program included conducting the BLIS Chamber Orchestra, BLIS Wind Ensemble in preparation for both the Winter and Spring Concerts, as well as teaching IB Music History, and preparing students for IGCSE Theory. I also assisted in instructing the Middle School music program, with a focus on brass and percussion techniques.

As a part-time lecturer, and previous Guest Artist in Residence (2006), I taught courses in Baroque Music Appreciation, the Art of Performance, and private lessons in brass techniques. I conducted the Brass Ensemble, was Assistant Conductor of the Wind Ensemble, and performed a solo recital for the students and faculty.

MEDICINE HAT COLLEGE CONSERVATORY 2003-2004

Music Director responsibilities included conducting the Medicine Hat Community Orchestra, adjudicating auditions, programming, advertising, and orchestra management. Music instruction included teaching Royal Conservatory of Music Theory and History courses, private instruction of all brass students, as well as coaching and performing with the Conservatory Brass Quintet and Junior Brass Quintet.

Duties included conducting concerts in the Family, Education and Cabaret series at home and on tour, preparation of the 60-member chorus for concerts, and concert programming. Highlights included works such as Tchaikovsky's Sleeping Beauty Ballet Suite and Serenade, Handel's Messiah, selections of Bach's Magnificat, as well as choruses from Strauss's Die Fledermaus, as well as the world premier of Under the Moon with Aunt Birdie, by playwright Eleanor Albanese and composer Lise Vaugeois.
